A couple of choice scans from my latest sketchbooks P:
So from starting top left and moving clockwise,
- A map of the geography of Taria, and the different races of human that inhabit it.
- A ferrithian surveyor
- Some creature sketches
- A couple different variations of the GEMeni VSS Synthetic's head, because I hated the one it had in the initial sketch. Final look is the largest sketch at the bottom of all the tests.
- A kherodi Sojourner! : O
- A kherodi named Epheni
- Lastly, one of the reasons why ferrithians like to stay so quiet on their homeworld, Nithera. The hostile arctic world is heavily populated by massive, savage creatures. Ferrithains learned to survive by staying out of sight and keeping quiet - fostering a "rude" culture of near-mute ferrithians. Their languages are heavily based in facial and body language, using very minimal sounds. Because of this, ferrithains have an extreme range in facial expressions, even more so when ear movements are taken into consideration. Interestingly, this makes it impossible for the traditional Tempesion microtranslaters (which process speech in real time and translate it for the listener) to interpret a ferrithian's "sign language." This is where the jokes often stem that a ferrithian will "make a face" and "punch you in the mouth with bone-crushing force" if you talk to them; they don't take too kindly to loud sounds, even talking at a modest volume level. It takes time for off-world ferrithians to adapt to their new lives.
