A practice with a different method on a generic-looking mech haha, kind of a mashup of an ED-209 and some wanzers from Front Mission 4 :U
I was actually going by a step-by-step breakdown of how one of the artists of "Hawken" renders his concepts. I learned some cool tricks, but I think I'll stick to fully rendering from pencil instead of painting over a rough sketch XD
...yeah, I prefer your pencil drawings to this, even if it is an interesting design. I've always been more inspired by high-quality pencil drawings digitally colored or glazed in Photoshop, than I am by purely-digital paintings and speedpaints, because I'm more familiar with pencils, and in my opinion it just looks more unique than a digital painting. One of the main reasons I find Keith Thompson to be such an awesome and inspiring artist. I think the concept art community needs more artists who still use traditional pencils.
I am also starting to get into Y. Shinkawa's art, after looking at his designs for ZoE on MAHQ. I wanna get an artbook of his that has his designs for the MGS games. Btw, any ideas how he does his art? I honestly can't tell if he uses all-digital techniques or a blend of traditional and digital like what we do. Either way, I love his stuff, and could cite him as a new influence for me.
